The Farm, special guests of Madness

The Farm will join Madness as their special guests when they perform at Falkirk Football Stadium next week (Friday 4th August).
The band, famous for hits such as ‘Groovy Train’, ‘Stepping Stone’ and ‘All Together Now’, will perform to a packed audience, ahead of Madness.

Originally formed in the early 1980s, The Farm released their first single ‘Hearts and Minds’ in 1984, which was produced by Graham ‘Suggs’ McPherson, lead vocalist of Madness. They then went on to have phenomenal success with their ‘Spartacus’ album, also produced by ‘Suggs’, which reached number one in the UK album chart in 1991. The band took a break in 1995 and reformed in 2010 and are now regulars on the summer festival circuit. They’ve also released three brand new songs: ‘Feel The Love’, ‘The End’ and ‘Can’t Stop Loving You’.

Lead vocalist of The Farm, Peter Hooton, said:

“We’re really looking forward to performing in Falkirk, and are delighted to be supporting Madness. We love performing live and have some great classics plus new material for the thousands of fans coming to the show to enjoy.”

Madness with special guests The Farm will perform at Falkirk Football Stadium on Friday 4th August, with Jess Glynne taking to the stage the following evening (Saturday 5th August) as part of Rock the Stadium.

Carlie Davidson of LCC Live said:

“We’re delighted to add The Farm to the line-up for Madness’ show next Friday evening. They enjoy popular appeal and are renowned for their live shows – a great introduction to the legendary Madness.”

A small allocation of tickets are available for Madness’ show and can be bought from www.ticketmaster.co.uk or from Falkirk Football Stadium Box Office in person ahead of the show.

Timings for Madness’ show on Friday 4th August are as follows: gates open at 6pm; The Farm will perform from 7.15pm; and Madness take to the stage at 8.45pm.

2. The Farm are a British band from Liverpool. Their first album ‘Spartacus’ reached the top position in the UK Album Chart when it was released in March 1991, and includes two songs which were top 10 singles the year before. Between 1990 and 1994 The Farm toured the world, but went their separate ways in 1995, but continued to enjoy popular appeal and their records have been all time classics.

In December 2010 the original line-up returned to play their home town at the O2 Academy to much acclaim. The concert was meant to be a one-off to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their anthem ‘All Together Now’ but was such a success that they decided they should play live again.

Since then, The Farm has been performing with regular appearances at summer festivals.

3. Madness are one of the most successful British pop groups of all time. They have had 15 singles in the UK top ten, including One Step Beyond, My Girl, and Baggy Trousers, and one UK number one single, House of Fun. Their 11th studio album Can’t Touch Us Now was released last autumn to critical acclaim.

Hailing from Kentish Town, they formed 40 years ago to become a hit band of the late 1970s and early 1980s 2-Tone ska revival. They continue to perform with their most recognised line-up of seven members, fronted by Graham “Suggs” McPherson.

Both Madness and UB40 spent 214 weeks on the UK singles charts over the course of the 1980s, jointly holding the record for most weeks spent by a group in that decade’s UK singles charts. However, Madness achieved this in a shorter time period (1980–1986).
